One By One
US DVD 5.1 Audio Edition
The first album release I would like to discuss is the One By One 5.1 Audio DVD release. Around the year 2000, dvd’s were still a big deal, and so was the new audio standard for movies back then. 5.1 audio was the new big thing. Creating your own cinema right at your home. After a while even record company’s wanted in on this and a lot of bands were releasing their albums in a 5.1 audio format on DVD. At the moment you see this happening again with special Blu-Ray audio releases.
Why is this release special? Well, first of all, because it’s the first and only DVD album audio release the Foos have done so far. And second, because it was made in fairly small amounts. It was produced only in the US, and therefore hard to get for us european collectors. Although even collectors from the US find it hard to get. Sometimes when you’re lucky though, it pops up on e-bay for a reasonable price.
Although I could write pages about the One By One album, I won’t. We all know the album, and it has been much discussed. Recently the first so called “Million Dollar Demos” have popped up. Probably one of the most discussed illustre recordings in Foo history.
You probably have already heard them, but if you haven’t, check them out over here.
