I’ve been looking...

I’ve Been Waiting For You
CANADIAN CD Single
One of the reasons why I like Dave Grohl so much, is that he likes to work with other artists. To my luck he does that quite often, and with a great choice of artists I must say.
This release here is another curious one. The track we are talking about here “I’ve Been Waiting For You” is a track from the David Bowie album Heathen, released in 2001. The song itself is actually a Neil Young cover. The original track is from Youngs self titled debut album, released in 1968.
Dave’s role on this track, is playing the guitar track. For once he is not asked to contribute his obvious drumming skills, but he is recognised to be a very good guitar player also.
The first time Dave played with David Bowie was on David’s 50th birthday concert in 1997. They played a couple of songs there and kept in touch ever since. Resulting in their first real collaboration in the year 2000. Playing together on a track called Jewel, from the album Ulysses (Della Notte) by Reeves Gabrels (David Bowie's guitar player at the time). A curious little track which I will probably write about in another post on this little blog. For now I want to focus on the track at hand.
This single has only been released in Canada, and is therefore quite hard to get if you’re not from there. It took me quite a while to find one anyway.
So why buy this single, if the track is already on the album? Well, that’s just the beauty of collecting isn’t it? I already owned the album in multiple formats, but to be complete, I just needed this single. The fact that it’s a rare single (also in Bowie collecting world) only contributed to the fact. And it’s just a damn good track!

I hope you liked this little piece of information. It isn't the greatest footnote in Dave's career, but from a collectors point of view, certainly an interesting one.

On to the next one...
