You’re my size, I need to try you on...

Have It All

US 4 track, CD Single
This release is somewhat of a weird one in Foo collectors world. And therefore certainly worth mentioning. As mentioned above, this one is a 4 track cd single, but there is where the mystery begins. There are only 3 tracks on the cd. Track number 4 is missing. This is what we call a mispress in collectors world. And for some reason, mispressed cd’s, vinyls or tapes tend to sell for a lot more than normal ones. Normally because they are so rare.
The single Have It All was the last single released from the album One By One. It was released on vinyl and cd, but in relatively small amounts. From the UK we had the 7” and a cd release. Australia had their cd release. And then there was this release from the US. All of these releases were done in smaller quantities then all the other single releases from One By One. Why? Probably because the track wasn’t hit friendly, and they already had so many single releases from the album. Who knows? (I bet the record company does...)
This US single release was supposed to have a 4th track on it. A live track of Weenie Beenie, recorded at the Mean Fiddler in London on August 20, 2000. It is listed on the artwork, and on the cd, but missing from the cd itself. A real bummer for Foo fans all around, because we all love Weenie Beenie. Espacially live.
The Have It All single itself is also a true addition to any Foo Fighters collection, because it is one of the only places to obtain the Darling Nikki b-side we all love so much. That's why you have to pay quite a bit, if you want to buy one. I had the fortune of buying mine from a normal record store (remember those?). So I must have bought it for 7 euro's or so. My guess is that this one will go for at least 15 times that much now.
Why do I love this release so much? Well for one thing. Because I love the b-sides on it. Darling Nikki is one of the finest Foo covers (in my humble opinion), and I love the haunting version of Disenchanted Lullaby. I like this version better than the one on the album actually. I also really love the artwork. All the artwork surrounding the One By One release was done by an artist named Raymond Pettibon. It creates a real coherent feel of art around the album. I really like that. Check out some of his other work if you like this too. He did some real cool stuff for Black Flag, Mike Watt and Sonic Yout in the past. But I have to admit. I also totally love it, knowing that it's friggin' rare, and that it's only in the hands of a handful of Foo collectors out there.
